Especially in the Murray River
Carta Pisana,
That would have to be the fastest tour of Paris ever?? |
There are faster cars you could do it in?
Hey Merv
Do you think it would be as fast as a Gondola on the Murray? |
Sarvowinner...are u from oz ?? i have never heard of a gondola on the murray river....
Didn't you see the cooking show with Stefano de Pieri from Mildura? www.abc.net.au/gondola/
No missed that one....
Yeah that wasn't bad.. but then again I like all cookin' shows.. I love all food!
Don't you wish they would repeat the Galloping Gourmet?
i prefer take away pies and chinese...
Actually, if you measure the trip on Google Earth, you will find an average speed of 78 km/h. Nothing that extraordinary. And he was driving a Mercedes - the Ferrari noise is post-dubbed.
Shucks - superheterodyne
I hate it when people let the facts get in the way of a good story (or film) ;) |
How do you get 78 km/h? And where did you find the post-dubbing note? According to this
http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2005/Rendezvous.shtml he covered 11.4 km in 451 seconds. That's an average of 91 mph. |
you guys are starting to get very technical.. bugger that!..how about we hire a Ferrari and bloody well try it?.. who's in?
Do they have speed cameras in Paris ??
Merv you didn't think of that did you?
does anybody know if they do?
I guesss they would??
how much would a Ferrari for a day caost in Paris?
Robespierre - the movie is 8 minutes 39 seconds (that's 519 seconds) long and the distance is 11,3 km, measured on Google Earth.
I don't know what the brand of your calculator is, maybe it is a vintage Pascaline that you expropriated from the clergy, however, 519 s is 0,1442 hours, that gives an average speed of 11,3/0.1442 = 78.6 km/h. A quick look on the French name of the movie in Google will lead you to the Mercedes information. |
78.4, sorry, my fingers slipped.
As for speed cameras in Paris : there are two within the city [one at 50 on Cours la Reine and another at 70 on the Quai de Bercy] and several on the Préiphérique. |
..are those calculations "as the crow flies"?.. or measured properly?
141 replies to this thread.. what's the biggest Fodor's thread anyones seen before?
I don't know about Paris, but where I have seen late model Ferrarris to rent, the rate for a single day was 1,000 to 1,200 euro.
does anyone know what that is in $Aussie dollars
about 2000
basically double, that's a no brainer then, thanks Michael
That is about as boring a 'video' as I've ever seen. Gave up after passing the Louvre. It's too dark to really enjoy any views.
Try it on a better monitor. The movie looks great on this 19" high-contrast LCD, and I'm looking forward to playing the DVD on a big plasma display.
Does anyone else hear "boys and their toys"? And, they complain about recipe threads :-)
Sexist claptrap.
You're right. On second look the "boys" were discussing chocolates and cooking shows earlier on this thread. No complaints from them on recipe threads, I suppose.
Still makes me think of "boys and their toys" though. |
we love our toys ...:)
And, that's the way it should be Wally.
Read this and thought about this thread (from a Rule of Life list) Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: 8. You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. :-) |
