One Month Apartment in Rome
Hello All,
I'm looking for a reasonably priced, attractive apartment to rent for one month (last 2 weeks of August '05 and first 2 weeks of Sept). There are 2 of us and we would LOVE to have a terrace with a view and internet access. Kindof flexable with a price but ideally would love to keep it under 1500euros for the month. I have done the standard search engine results and venere.com, but am having trouble finding a site that will quote monthly rates. If anyone has any suggestions it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Thanks in advance! |
Have you checked the www.slowtrav.com site and the associated www.slowtalk.com board? That has tons of discussion and info about apartments in Italy.

It is highly unlikely that you will find an apartment for a month for $1500 at that time of year in Rome--or anytime for that matter. You probably need to revise your budget expectations--not always an easy thing to do, I know.

Hey Matt,
WillTravel's suggestion for slowtrav.com is a great one. I have read many good things and trust the reputation of initaly.com and italyperfect.com I too, concur with Janelp's thoughts that 1500E might be tough, but email these two, see what you can find, maybe they will give you a discount for a month rental. (As you mentioned most rates I saw when I did research for our trip were quoted per night or by the week, so I would go straight to contacting them by email.) A month in Rome, how truly grand! Good luck, let us know how it works out. Best wishes, T. |
Thank you for your responses,
I do understand that 1500euros is a bit unrealistic, and can swing a little higher if need be. I would just love it if I could find something. I am having such a hard time getting a quote on a month from almost ANYONE. It seems the prices are based by night and you are welcome to multiply by 30 but I know that isn't the only way to do this. Anyone out there gone through an agent or representitive of any kind? I would love to give someone a criteria to go with and just "pick" one. Also, I know August is sortof "slow" in Rome but does anyone have any input on the last 2 wks of Aug through the first 2 of sept. I love the heat, so that isn't a concern of mine. Thank you all for being so patient with me, as you can tell I am totally out of my league here trying to do this being as inexperienced as I am! |
Try homeexchange.com and click on "Vacation Rentals". I believe you will find what you want there. Good luck.

I rented a little apartment in Trastevere for a month (February) for 1000 euro through Flatinrome.com. They were great to deal with .The price was a reduction from the weekly rate.

Hey Matt,
Have you had any luck?? Keep us posted, Best wishes, T. |
Thanks everyone for your responses. I have heard back from only one of the people that I submitted requests for information from. A woman from "romepower.com" called me, from Rome, quoting rates. They were reasonable (1350-2500euro) but there were only several units to choose from, and all were very very small, and 3 out of the 4 had not one window. I understand that I will not be in a penthouse on my budget, but if I'm going to be there for a month, I think I will need a little daylight :)
I did submit about 20 requests for quotes from cityapartments.it and in two weeks, haven't heard back on one of them. Not too sure how to proceed, but atleast I am finding that there is SOMETHING available under 1800. Wish me luck, and keep me posted if any of you have any suggestions. THANKS AGAIN! |
Hi Matt,
Did you try initaly.com as above post said, we used them a year ago, and initial correspondence was always prompt. They are based in California, and always responded to us within two business days. They also try to work with individual budgets, try to email them with your requirements, see if anything comes of it. Hope you find your 'windowed' flat! |
Try www.rentalinrome.com I found that about the cheapest were at least €500 a week especially if you want internet access Cheapest part of Rome seems to be around St Peter's ( I found about 6 that looked OK for me and you can email them for full details and maybe it's cheaper for a month)
