One evening in London

We will be spending one day and night in London this July? Previously we have done a dinner and theatre evening also a musical with dinner. Are there still such packages
available of dinner and an outing (don't want
the evening cruise package or a pub night)?
Do a walking tour - TimeOut lists several - one of the most popular is the Jack the Ripper Tour, where you visit the spots where his victims were found and learn other tidbits of local history. I went on several - you learn alot about the area, and not just about the subject!

Mary,if you hab=ve never done so why not go to the Tower of London for the Ceremony of the Keys?

When I was in London, I left a night completely free. Luckily, we stumbled across a wonderful night ... we bought tickets to a classical quintet at St. Martin's (a beautiful small church by Trafalgar) The tickets were approx. $13.00 each and the performance was fabulous. The church is all wood and was lit by hundreds of small white candles. Also, before the performance, you can have tea and pastries at a cafe in the old catacombs.

Hi Mary!

In the summer, there are a lot of outdoor plays and evenings in gardens and lawns. What evening are you planning to be in London? I think Shakespeare in a park is a lovely idea for a summer evening with a bottle of wine and a picnic.

I post a lot of festivals and events in my newsletter. If you are interested, you can sign up on the web site.

I hope this helps!

Anastasia
http://www.greatbritaintravelguide.com

If I had one night and wanted to do something different I would opt for either:

Dinner at Pont de la Tour .. great restaurant on the Thames in the shadow of Tower Bridge. Book an outside table (weather permitting)and consider Henry's suggestion of taking in the Ceremony of the Keys. Tickets MUST be purchased in advance. Or:

A dinner cruise on the canals from Little Venice near Regent's Park. Really great ... then take in a performance at the Open Air Theater in Regent's Park (again weather permitting).

Cindy

Take a ride on the new London Eye - the last "flight" as they call it is at 10 p.m. - the city is breathtakingly beautiful all lit up at your feet. You will have to get tickets in advance, check their websight for info.
