One day in Sevilla
 

Hello,

We have 1 day in Sevilla.
We are planning to:
- Visit Alcazar in the morning
- Visit Cathedral next
- Have lunch
- Visit Maria Luisa Park and Plaza Espana
- Eat dinner
- Goto a Falmenco show at night

The next day we plan to leave for Granada by 11 or 12
So may be take a horse carriage ride in the morning or walk in Santa Cruz ?

Any suggestions to make it better or change something.

I see a direct train at 11:45.

You can take a carriage ride back from the park to the Alcazar so no need to return the next day just for the carriage ride. This might make sense depending on where you are staying.

Are upper quarters of Alcazar worth the visit. From what I have read, it seems Alcazar and the gardens are pretty big and take more than an hour.

We are staying near the Cathedral. Carriage ride back seems a good idea. Thanks.

I have been trying to buy train ticket from Renfe site but so far unsuccessful.

you can only purchase tickets 60 days out usually. Also, U.S. credit cards seem to have problems getting accepted. Try rumbo.es

I was not able to buy tickets from Renfe website. Had tried paypal and card, it just would not work.
I had finally bought tickets from RailEurope website.

I'm surprised you couldn't use Paypal as there shouldn't be an issue with that and I've easily been able to do that. There are some other sources, but doesn't matter now.

I think your itinerary is fine. the Alcazar isn't that big in Seville, at least compared to some other places I've been, but I suppose it might take over an hour. I'm sure some people will say the Royal Quarters (upper floor) are "worth it" and some won't, so who can say how you'll feel.

The train, an MD, makes 8 stops before arriving in Granada. The new highspeed rail is not up and running as yet.

The ALSA bus is a little quicker, just as comfortable and cheaper, if you're trying to save a few Euros. There are also more departures during the day.

Hope you aren't visiting on a Sunday, as the cathedral is only open in the afternoon from 2.30 pm for tourist visit. You can attend Mass in the morning free, but no chance of seeing anything else as only the nave is open in subdued light, and Old Master paintings, other exhibits, Giralda tower etc are all closed. On weekdays it opens at 11 am, but often there is a long line to get in, so I suggest you get a ticket from El Salvador Church nearby which admits you to both (same price, 9 euro).
Alcazar opens at 9.30 am. If you get there early, there shouldn't be much of a line to get in (9.50 euro). Or you can book timed entry online.
