Hi A, was talking about the transaction fee. I don't pay one at my bank,l just the exchange rate. I will definitely check the costs before I order cash. I haven't gone overseas in a couple of years, but in the past it was always cheaper from my bank.
Also, based on the info you gave me above, I will probably get less cash. And who knows, maybe the ATMs will be the way to go after all. Thanks again for all your helpfulness! It's truly appreciated.

ATMs are definitely the way to go. f your bank doesn;t charge you fees they will give you a terrible rate of exchange - since them ordering Czech currency for you is a very time-consuming and expensive operation - versus just pulling it from an ATM on the spot. (One of my neighbors insisteed ond doing this - and when I sat down with her aand showed her the interbank exchange rate - the bank had charged her about 9% extra.)

Here's a site to check the current exchange rate. I'm sure, as NYT above says, the bank will charge you an unfavorable rate, even though there are no additional fees.

Enjoy your time in Prague and post a report (or pix) when you return!!

Thanks you two!
Adrienne, I will definitely do a trip report, and as you asked above, if I go to the mirror maze I will let you know how that was too
Yep, xe.com is the site I generally use.

Well, here is the deciding factor (in case you are interested). They now charge a $7.50 delivery fee if you order less than $1000 USD! That's silly, and I don't want or need that much cash.
The bank exchange rate is slightly higher, but then add their delivery fee and it doesn't make sense.

Toucan, if you have time I'd recommend one of the many concerts in the local churches. They are very inexpensive and often quite good. I also agree with seeing the old town which I think you could do with or without a guide. If you visit one museum or site, I'd rec the Jewish Museum to see the children's drawings from Terezin.

Best laid plans and all....I blame the woman on the flight to London that Friday night who coughed the entire way without covering her mouth, but by the time I reached Prague on Tuesday I was sick. I still managed to see a bit of the city, but not as much as I would have liked. I wore out after about 4 hours.
I'm not even sure it is worth a trip report
Still, it was beautiful, it was great weather, and I enjoyed what I was able to see.
