one day in Paris??

My wife and I will be in London in 2 weeks, and at the last minute, we decided to take the Eurostar to Paris for one day. I know one day isn't enough for a city like that, but that is all we can do this trip. What can we cram in in around 6 hours???
Please Help

dang...6 hours? whew...

ok, i would say go for the champs de lysee (sorry for my spelling), and the eiffel tower. you could see both of those in two - three hours easily and using the metro

you could also swing by the louvre for an hour or so,.....with 2 hours for travel time to and from your original leaving point.

I really love these "types" of questions from Newbies. Simply check destinations on Fodor's, go to Paris and read. Pick out what interests you and your wife. With only 6 hours, the answers you're going to receive are the obvious tourist spots. Have a nice trip!!!

If you take the first train out and the last train back, you can have about 11 hours on the ground.

Here's my whirlwind DiY bus tour: http://tinyurl.com/ovpaw

Perhaps they simply asked here because they wanted the experience of regular people who may have had the same situation they are in.

It is just like a review done by a magazine or a company for a product.....people prefer real customer reviews than the reviews given by larger companies or organizations or publications.

Good luck on the info, tucksfolks! Have a wonderful time seeing the sites!

You can take the metro from the eurostar train station....not a problem! :)

Thanks for your help! By the way, has anyone tried Maxjet yet?

If it were me, I would definitely skip the Champs (it's a beautiful shopping street, but are you interested in swanky stores?), the Louvre and any museums in favor of walking around and experiencing the city streets. I would concentrate on the area around Notre Dame: the Ile Saint Louis, the Conciergerie, the Latin Quarter, Saint Germaine, etc. For first-time visitors it's exciting to see the Eiffel Tower, too, which you could do... perhaps you could do one of the boat tours on the Seine (I don't think they last more than two hours).

Hi

Only 6 hours in Paris! That is not a lot of course and you can't see it all in such a short time. Have you decided what you would like to see in Paris? I would advice you to check out Ard de Triomphe. The Eiffel tower will probably take too much time and the same goes for Louvre. But you can also take a short stop at Notre Dame. It really depends what you are into. My wife and I went to Paris in April and I have posted a trip report with pictures and links on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Maybe you will find some useful info there. Have a great trip and enjoy both London and Paris :-)
