Last Sept. we went to a cooking class offered by The Accidental Tourist, www.accidentaltourist.com. We had a great time. They picked us up in Florence, we first went on a winery tour and then to a country home to make ravioli & tagliatelle, which they then cooked and we ate at their dinner table. There were about 15 of us. Lots of wine to drink as we made the pasta. I would say not a serious cooking class, but a lot of fun and beautiful surroundings.

I used the Accidental Tourist group for several activities in Italy and found them to be excellent.

Four of us took a one day cooking class from a chef named Jeff Thickman in his home just outside of Florence in 2001--we saw a posting about him on an AOL site. Jeff is actually a Russian, raised in America, and living in Italy! His main gig now is doing state dinners around the world--but if you can catch him at home, you will be in heaven. It was incredible! We cooked, ate fabulous food, drank wonderful wine, spent over 4 hours with him cooking and learning so much about Tuscan food and customs. The lesson in balsamic vinegar, and tasting the 100year old stuff, was worth the price alone!
