For history, visit the Hohensalzburg fortress built by the ruling archbishops, the cathedral, and St. Peter's Church and cemetery (with the catacombs).

Musical highlights include two Mozart houses, and there may be an evening concert that you could attend.

If you like music, see if the Schloss Mirabell has any concerts (http://www.salzburger-schlosskonzert...te/index_e.htm). This April, we went to a violin/piano concert. The performance hall is beautiful, very small/intimate, so you can see the performers up close, and the music very good. We sat next to a music professor from Heidelberg who told us he always gets tix here when he goes to Salzburg.

If there is no concert at SM, both the Fortress and Skiftskeller St Peter hold dinner concerts each night. The music is very good in both, with SSP having much better food.

Gute Reise!

We spent a day and half in Salzburg in May. I found this link to be very useful for events and sites. They will also send you free packet of Salzburg info. http://www2.salzburg.info/

In addition to site seeing, take time to just walk around the old city, sit at a cafe and enjoy the culture. I absolutely loved Salzburg.
