On Trenitalia, what is the Business train?
Looking at options from Bologna to Milan and saw Eurostar and IC options but this one I'm not familiar. I clicked on "buy" and went to choose my fare rate (which is "regular") but it didn't even have the option of a regular fare. What's the story?

Hi ST,
It's a special train. Saves 6 min over the ES*, costs an additional 8E/4E in 1cl and 2cl. See http://tinyurl.com/ybcljk ((I)) |
Thanks Ira. Now I have to decide if it's woth the extra money to give me a few extra minutes in making my connection from Milan to Zurich....

Hi ST,
Unless you are on business, you shouldn't be making connections that are so close that 6 min would matter. :) ((I)) |
Right now my connection is 18 minutes, I would argue to say that 6 minutes could help but I don't think it's worth the actual 8 or 4 euro for it.
|
As it's not at all unusual for even ES trains to be late, i wouldn't even feel comfy with an 18-min connection - especially in Milan Centrale, one of the largest most chaotic train stations in Europe.

What I find interesting is that if I click on "international" and show my departure from Bologna and arriving in Zurich, it doesn't even give me the Business train option. Only when I do sepereate searches (Bol/Mil) that I get that one. Obviously because that specific business train doesn't run past Milan, but that could be confusing for people.
