Hi there, Just curious - i just read about the beautiful Sunflower fields of Provence when we are driving from Pisa to Florence will we pass any? thanks! We will be there the end of September

You might be late for the sunflowers.

We were there the end of September two years ago and saw thousands of dry black sunflowers in the fields all over Tuscany. You are likely to pass them but at the end of September, they won't be especially lovely. The vineyards, on the other hand, are at their loveliest at that time. The end of September is an exquisite time to be in Italy.

Please tell me more about the sunflowers!!. I'll be in Florence/Tuscany in July and was just telling my boyfriend about the sunflowers the other day--it sounds wonderful. Are they all over or in that one specific location?

Ummmm..what route are you taking that would take you through Provence on the way from Pisa to Florence? I'm sorry, but I don't understand this question.

Anyway, by the end of September, the sunflower fields have long since yielded their seeds and are flopped over and dead as doornails.

The first time I went to Italy it was in September and it took me awhile to realize what all those black sticks were in the fields in Tuscany. On the bright side, the weather is usually fantastic and some of the greenery will be changing colors for fall.
