? on Hotel Location in Dublin

Is the new Radisson SAS on Golden Lane, Dublin 8, in a good location for sightseeing? Is it safe for walking around in the evening? There was a comment on TA regarding the area being "run down" and not to walk around alone at night. Thanks

It's an area that is coming up, but has not yet arrived. You might not be comfortable walking around there alone at night.

Thanks, Padraig. I think you've been giving me advice on locations and I appreciate it. Would you say in general that it's okay if 2 people, a male and female, are walking to and from the Radisson Hotel in the evening and/or night? I know its hard to judge what works for others, but I would like your opinion.

I'd do it with Herself. One needs to be a little streetwise, but the risks are fairly low: I would put it on the acceptable level. The immediate neighbourhood is not strong on charm.

It's a good location for getting to the sights that most people would want to see.

I work close by to the Radisson and often walk passed it after dark on my own. I never feel 100% safe but I have been working in the area for over a year and a half and have never had any bad experiences. There are a few homeless people around that I do feel a little intimidated by at times as they can often be drunk but the most they have every uttered is a "hello love". The hotel is really very close to Georges Street - about a 2 minute walk - so just walk that direction and you are in a busy part of town that is safe. I think two people around here would be fine - just keep your wits about you.
