Olympic Stadium in Rome
 

Hello everyone! I will be staying in Central Rome and would like to know the best way to get to the Olympic Stadium. We are going to a concert at night and am wondering if the subway/train system is the best and safest way to go.

I used to live in Rome and went to the Olympic Stadium a few times, to see Roma or Lazio playing. Personally I found that there were two ways to get there or back: by taxi, or on foot. Taxis are ok in Rome - they don't rip you off like the thieves at the airport (be warned!)BUT just make sure the driver clears the meter when you get in.
The pedestrian route is a pleasant walk along the river Tiber, but it is about 4 miles so it depends on whether you feel energetic. There are always a few mobile eateries along the way. I had a memorable hamburger and a beer for 5 Euros at one

Metro A to Ottaviano, then bus #32.

do you know where I can find info on the rome bus schedules? Do they stop running after a certain time?

It seems to be only in Italian. For bus info, enter the line number (e.g., 32) next to "Trovalinea" and click.

For metro info, one way is to click on "Percorsi e Mappe" in the menu at the left, then on "Le Metropolitane."

But on looking for the Metro A schedule to Ottaviano for you, I discovered something I didn't know. Because of construction, the line operates only until 9 pm. After that, it's replaced by bus service: bus MA1 will take you from the center (Termini, Repubblica, Barberini, Spagna) to Ottaviano.

Meant to add: So now that you have to take 2 buses, there may be a faster and more convenient route involving only 1 bus. I don't know.

I think it would just be easier to take a taxi - right?

It might be a pretty pricey taxi...

There is no better route than buses MA1 and 32. Depending on when you go, you may be able to take the Metro, but coming back it will have to be by bus (which I would prefer in any case).

The last departures of the 32 bus coming back are at 22.45, 23.10, 23.35, 00.00 and 00.25.

Last summer, our family of four took a cab from the Pantheon to the Ponte Milvio which is very close to the stadium. It was under 15Euro and very convenient.

Eloise, is there a web site for the bus schedulein Rome? Tje one KT told me about was all in Italian!

I'm back and got to the stadium. If you ever need to go, just take a taxi. It was quick form central Rome and affordable. I did not find the transit system in Italy in August very good.
