Olympic Airways Warning

Just a heads-up for anyone planning to book flights, it's possible this airline could fold. According to this story, http://news.airwise.com/stories/2002/02/1014122721.html Regards, Walter

An airline going bankrupt won't really affect anyone. They still fly their scheduled flights. I knew about this awhile ago, and still booked my flights to and from Athens to the islands with them.

Still possible Olympic may fold, but here's some hope from a Greek newspaper:

OLYMPIC AIRWAYS CONTENDING 94 MILLION EURO
Athens, 4 April 2002 (14:59 UTC+2)

Minister of Transports and Communications, Christos Verelis, is expected to ask for 93,910,491 euro to be paid Olympic Airways by the Minister of Economy and Finances, Nikos Christodoulakis, during a meeting taking place today.

This amount mainly originates from debts of the public sector to the national airliner, while, as mentioned in press publications, deputy Minister of Finances Giorgos Floridis agreed to pay a further amount of 20,542,920 euro to OA last week. If these debts are paid, then Olympic Airways will be able to take a deep breath and look to the future with more optimism.
