olive oil...again!!!

I previously asked about bringing olive oil through customs and received many responses. Thank you! I guess the problem may be with airport security. Any comments? Thank you.

I've never had a problem.

Customs won't care about olive oil, nor will security. But the agricultural people might, although we've never had a problem with bottled or canned olive products.

I brought 5 small bottles back as gifts -- no problems. Check out the olive oil before you buy. I went into one shop and tasted 3 different kinds, and they all had their own distinct taste.

The place I bought my wine from ships wine back to the States (very expensive), and they put "olive oil" on the customs forms. So, I would say that it's OK. ((b))

cndtraveller- My curiosity is killing me! Why would anyone want to bring olive oil back with them?
Do they not sell it in your supermarket down the road?
I can get one of the best world award winning olive oils, white truffle, black truffle, any kind you care to name from most markets in my town and we are called "Sleepy Hollow"!

Well, I can't get Nyons olive oil locally, much as I'd like to. So that's one reason. And it's not easy to find oil from the boutique operations in the Alpilles area without paying a small fortune for it.

I live in Philadelphia and you just can't get the variety of oil you get in Italy. Many small producers just don't export so I brought back some just last month from the last harvest. Also, olive oil is not a problem with customs. Hard cheese is also ok. Salami of any type is a no no.

We brought back some sausages. Wrapped them in many, many layers of saran wrap and prayed there would be no Beagle Brigade at the airport. We made it!

Philadelphia has the beagles but aside from that I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting caught with something I wasn't supposed to have and then have customs completely go through my bags.
