Old Waverly Hotel - Edinburgh - Any advice?

My travel agent booked me at the Old Waverly Hotel in Edinburgh since it's centrally located and she wanted me to be close in town for safety (less walking) since I'll be traveling alone. Has anyone stayed here?

I'll be going to Edinburgh in late January and would be interested in knowing how you liked this hotel. Appears to be a good location at a reasonable rate.

Can't recall there being any parking - but maybe I'm wrong (frequently am)

It's a decent place.

Thanks Tony for confirming that it's a decent place. I won't be in need of parking. Just wanted a safe, clean, decent place to stay and be able to walk to many of the sights. Sounds like my travel agent found just the place. Thanks.

So is this a suitable place for a single woman to stay while traveling through the area for a few days? My wife will be in London on business in January and would like to make a few stops in Edinburgh and Dublin before heading home. She doesn't want to drive, so a safe central place is desired. Is this hotel clean? Friendly and helpful service? Any suggested daytrips via tour from Edinburgh? Thanks for the advice
