P.S. Thereyet-it IS an expensive habit to buy the IHT, isn't it? And it seems to me that I've paid a bit more than 2 Euro for it in places.

Hi TY,

I also suggest the IHT.

Girlspytravel, I didn't mean to leave off the LA Times and the SF Chronical for that matter. It's just that it was getting late and my eyes and fingers weren't up to it. Lol

Also, many editorialists are syndicated so maybe that is why Post columnists were in the IHT.

Ann, I wasn't going to say it, but yes the Sports pages are the first to get pulled out! Will check out the Torygragh.

Did I say I love this topic.

Oh and Ann, did you say there is still an evening paper! I thought those were all gone. We used to know when a paper in Chicago was printed by how many stars were up in the corner of the front page. I can't remember what the name of the evening paper in Chicago was but I do remember it was a sad day when it went out of print. thereyet

My favourite paper is the Financial Times weekend edition.

Though the greatest little pleasures that I have - though not really newsworthy - are my subscriptions to the New Yorker and the Economist.

I read Le Monde regularly and I'm trying to read the Frankfurter Allgemeine a few times per week.

hi, thereyet,

yes last time I was in London, it was still going - called the evening standard now I gather [see their web-site via google for lots of listings, restaurants, etc.etc.].

the newpaper seller by temple tube always used to call out "pather, late pather" - I never did find out why!

The Evening Standard also regularly puts out a free version called Standard Lite. Handed out on the streets and at train stations. Something to read on the train home.

hi, thereyet - y'know, I never thought of that...never got close enough to check either!

:S-

regards, ann
