Apt near Ecole Militaire or St. Paul??

Trying to decide between an end of January apartment rental in the Marais a half block from the St Paul metro or an apartment in the 7th on r du Champ de Mars. I originally wanted to stay in the Marais based on friends recommendations (cafe, architecture, food shops). However, we were offered an apartment for $100 less (for the week) to stay in the 7th. Which also appears to be near great cafes and markets. The apartments are practically identical in amenities and decor. So it comes down to location.
Any experience or recommendations between the two? Thanks!

I love all of Paris, but in my experience there is much more going on in the Marais, particularly at nite.

We use an apt right across from St Paul Metro VIP Garden Delight. It is so very convenient, Bakeries supermarkt Monoprix fromagerie wine shops and cafes right across the atreet. anD ALSO ABOUT 6 BUS LINES RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR DOOr. It is a short walk to the Seine and the Isles. I find the 7th hard to get around and rather boring!

Also the Marais is a short walk to the best market in Paris IMO the Ricahrd Lenoir on Thus and Sundays

I think it's closer than other posters. Depends a bit on your style. The 7th is a little quieter, and the nearby rue Cler kind of touristy but nice. We stayed on rue Duvivier and loved it, as our location was quiet but it was only a few blocks to good restaurants, Musee Rodin. Metro connections to the Right Bank are convenient.

Haven't stayed near Saint-Paul, but spend time in that area every trip. Lots to do, near Place des Vosges, lots more within a moderate walk. So guess I'd agree that's the better location, but it's not a slam dunk.
