Oktoberfest Hotels - any bargains?
I am going to Oktoberfest on Oct. 4 and am searching for a hotel that is clean, few amenities and less than 150 euro - any suggestions?

Hi
At Oktoberfest the hotels all raise their rates. I know this from experience as we stayed in a hotel pre and during and the owner told us he was raising the rates during this period. Inexpensive hotels in Munich are not common, except around the main train station. My experience was don't go if your are claustrophobic the line in hugh and intense. Watch out for the people dropping in front of you.

Stay outside of munich and take the train. It is already very late for hotels in Munich during Octoberfest.

The hotels around Tegernsee still have room

It is 37 miles from Munich. Trains run hourly

I saw in a travel mag last week where they are renting tents and sleeping bags on the grounds of Olympic Stadium for this year. Will also have rest rooms available. Just a thought. We camped out in 1971....cold, but a lot of fun.

Good luck finding a hotel now!

I'd suggest heading out along the S Bahn somewhere outside of town but close to the S Bahn. Maybe something as far or further than the Seimenswerk stop.

US
