Oktoberfest for 2

My fiance and I are going to oktoberfest for part of our honeymoon. We want to spend time in the beer tents but cannot make reservations because there are only 2 of us. Do we have any chance of getting a spot at a table or even getting in?

you can certainly get in each tent - the times i've gone i tent hop - finding a seat is problematic according to time of day.

afternoons and other times i've seen empty seats

but i like to stand and take it in and move from tent to tent - basically same with nuances - bands oriented to different ages, etc.

you will find seats for two in some tent anytime i think

You can almost always get into the Hofbrauhaus tent to have a beer as they have standing room only in the center of the tent. Timing is everything for the other tents for getting a place to sit and enjoy the fest chicken and Oktoberfest atmosphere. Prost!

Most tents fill up by 5pm.
Several tents won't let you in unless there are empty seats (standing is not allowed in most tents), but you will just have to wait outside until they let in the next bunch of people.
So come early, or bring a little extra time.

<Several tents won't let you in unless there are empty seats (standing is not allowed in most tents)>

not disputing this but something must have changed then since my visit several years ago where over some days i came and went frequently between tents, standing as long a i wanted.

thanks for the correction

Yup, it has changed a very few years ago, mostly due to safety concerns (over-crowded tents).
As some tents are pretty huge, I cannot promise that you won't see no one standing in there, but most security personnel keeps an eye on the situation now.

that's a bummer for me a single traveler who enjoyed seeing the atmosphere of various tents and didn't really care about sitting in them for a long time.

You go there for the "Stafettensaufen". (Wonder if anybody knows what this means ;-) )
So no need for standing anywhere :D.

Really logos? As far as I know Stafettensaufen is relay drinking at the table between 2 teams. Are you saying tourists can just come in and join a drinking team and people will just let you into their teams?

For sure you'll have a very intersting experience! We're going to our 9th 'Fest. For a change of pace, go to the wine tent in the afternoon before they check for wrist bands.

Dax, no not really ;-)
