I leave on September 9 for Munich, but I will not be there for Oktoberfest this year. I have been several times already. We always go in the daytime. I love the chocolate covered strawberries!

I love the chocolate covered strawberries!
Just so you know, that's not an Oktoberfest, or German, exclusive. |
I will go this year for my 10th Oktoberfest visit, it's really a great party! I will be there between oct 2 and 6 so if anybody likes to join, let me know!

Don't skip the carnival, we didn't ride any rides but the people watching was great! We also watched a real flea circus! I have never been able to find chocolate roasted hazelnuts here in the States, they were delicious! Have fun!!

sparkchaser, yes, I know, but I get them at any place I see them. I get Godiva dipped strawberries at the Northpark Mall in Dallas. They are delicious!

Did everyone have a good time?
We find, like sparkchaser, that we prefer the smaller festivals. But Oktoberfest was amazing! The best for us was on the weekdays, the weekend was so packed you could hardly move through the crowds. The tents were beautiful, good food, great weather and nice people. The bathrooms were extremely clean. We had no problems getting a seat but we were only 2 people. The couple of times that we couldn't spot a place the waitress found us a spot. We tipped her for that although it didn't seem to be expected. There were people from our tables who went outside to smoke and then couldn't get back in. The nuts were so good and the decorated gingerbread cookie stalls were amazing. It was wonderful just to walk around. Aside from the beer, our favorite things were the magnificent horses with their wagons. They were huge and gorgeous. All in all, a great festival. I hope everyone else had a good time! I also hope that next year cowboy1968 has us all over for a giant barbecue/ tailgate before Fodorites hit the festival. (kidding) P.S. We bought the souvenir mugs but no hats. |
