Okay, let me ask it a different way.

Yea on the proposal, but I like the form with the ellipses for differentiation, as Cliford explains.

While we're at it, would it be a big deal for Fodor's to have a way to see which posts are originated by a member?

Why do I need to convince you? I hold my opinion and that's that. Which is what you asked for in the first post, not for me to get into a big discussion about it.

I favour any website making its features more user-friendly. However, it would probably be more useful to email your comments/advice directly to the editors or webmaster (if you haven't already done so) than posting on the Europe board.

Okay, clifton and gg, using ellipsis would be good in the Mk. 2 version, but that's fairly complicated code. I am trying to keep this simple so they can get it done before lunch. Anyway, if you wanted to reference the article on windsurfing in Spain at www.nytimes.com or the one on Danish wines at www.nytimes.com, I think the reader wouldn't be confused.

What I asked for was no personalities (ad hominem comments). I don't think a discussion of the pros and cons of improving the UI is at all out of line.

Evidently you don't have any justification, and that's fine.

hanl, I emailed the proposal last week.

Robespierre, there is a difference between not having any justification and not wanting to go into it with you.
Given that you originally seemed to be conducting a simple poll ("yea or nay") rather than a debate, I posted. It now seems you are more interested in persuading others to adopt your own preferences and that's a different thread entirely isn't it?

I'll vote yes simply in appreciation for that Google Search tip - I've tested a few sites and some are better than others - do you know the reason? Is it because the sites themselves are using Google as their internal search engine?

I don't know what they have to say,
it makes no difference anyway -
whatever it is, I'm against it!
No matter what it is or who commenced it,
I'm against it!

Your proposition may be good,
but let's have one thing understood -
whatever it is, I'm against it!
And even when you've changed it or condensed it,
I'm against it!

From: Whatever It Is, I'm Against It
By Harry Ruby (music) and Bert Kalmar (lyrics)
Performed by Groucho Marx in "Horse Feathers" (1932)
