Ok to go to Capri?
My husband and I are planning a business related trip to Italy in three weeks. After Rome, we would like to go to Sorrento and Capri for several days. What is the weather like? Just wondering what to take. Is Capri as beautiful as I have heard? Thanks everyone.

Yes, Capri is as beautiful as you have heard. Don't miss it, but do try to take a nice long walk along the Via Krupp. The tourist info stand by the ferry from Sorrento has a little pamphlet with a map and suggested walks. Visit the Villa San Michele in Anacapri.

If you're planning to stay in Sorrento, plan to spend a day doing the Amalfi drive. There's a local bus that you can take. Stop at Positano and Amalfi. If you like, you can take another local bus from Amalfi up to Ravello (10 minute ride), which is spectacularly unspoiled and has incredible views of the bay.

Good afternoon, Janet
If you have the opportunity to go to
Capri, by all means go, its a wonderful
experience. We have done it with over-
nites on Capri, in Sorrento and as a
one day trip out of Rome. We can
highly recommend the HOTEL SYRENE, on
Capri, the middle town, Via Camerelle,51
([email protected]), also a Best Western.
If only on Capri for a day, can suggest
their dining room for lunch.
Here are a couple of urls to check out.
www.capri.it/
www.capri.net/
Good surfing, Richard of Hickory Hills, IL.....

A caution to balance excessive enthusiasm for Capri. It is exteremly crowed on the weekends, in the port area particularly. Get out of there and into the hills as fast as you can. Also Edmund Wilson, who spent quite a lot of time there, hated it. Who is EW? A great american literary critic.
