I just got back from my very first trip to London. My short list of favorites include:
-the huge number of people who are out and enjoying themselves in the parks. The park near Kensington Palace was alive with happy people!
-the beautiful pond garden behind Kensington Palace
-block after block of row houses - some so tall and white and beautiful

of course much more

You people are cruel, I just ache to go after reading your posts! I was in London for the first time in 1982 and loved it and couldn't wait to go back. It took 19 years (the purchase of a home and having 2 kids kind of got in the way). Last summer I finally returned to London with my husband and 2 kids and fell in love with it all over again. All 4 of us are now dreaming of a return trip next summer, but a possible job layoff may get in the way. Until then, I haunt Fodors and dream!

History on EVERY corner. Living in Los Angeles, history is buldozed to create strip malls that resemble what was torn down 30 years ago. In London, I feel secure with the past and look forward to a future.

LEAVING......
|
...leaving on the express to Edinburgh

I remember arriving by train in Edinburgh and thinking how small it was compared to London. Edinburgh is OK, but I don't think it comes close to London, which is a world class city.
