Ok, so I know this is a strange question... Poppy fields?
Ok, trusted friends, I know this is a strange question, but I have a strong fondness for poppy flowers, and would love to see and photograph a field full of poppies!
My question is, are they still in bloom in France in July? And, if so, are they abundant out in the countryside in the Loire region?
Thanks in advance for any reply!!

In May, maybe early June one can see red poppies blooming everywhere in France though concentrations vary. I doubt you'll find masses of poppies in July.
However, late June very early July is the time to see fields of lavender in bloom in Provence. If you have an opportunity to see and smell the lavender fields, poppies while beautiful may somehow not seem as important.

Poppies are wild flowers. For a while they were disappearing. They now can be seen again at the edge of the fields. From what I heard, herbicides cannot be used within a certain distance of a public road so as to allow flowers like poppies to bloom. In the right season they can be seen along the roads, but fields of them are rare.

They are wild, so finding a field of them is a real rarity. More often, you'll see them bobbing in clumps by the side of the road and in between cultivated fields. At any rate, they will likely be gone by the time you're there.

I absolutely love the poppies. There are several fields of poppies in the Luberon in the area below Bonnieux and Lacoste. They start to bloom in early/mid May.
I once asked a local friend why the fields of poppies were planted. He said it was just for the beauty.
