Ok folks, one more stupid question about how far is....

My hotel is near the Forum. When I get into Termini, should I take the bus or is it a ten minute walk or so?

Taxi. Really don't want to schlep your luggage on a Rome city bus. Walk? Only if you're traveling ultra light. Again, the schlep factor w/your bag(s).

The walking distance using my map is: From the front door of Termini heading down Via Cavour to the Forum is just under 1.25mi or just under 2km. And it's downhill:). Regards, Walter

Depending upon how much stuff you're carrying and where exactly your hotel is, you could also consider taking the Metro from Termini to Cavour or Colosseo. BTW, and I'm really not being sarcastic here, do you have a map of Rome, at least one in a guidebook or something? You're going to need one to get around, and it would do a lot to answer your questions about distance.

Yes, I have the Fodors guidebook to Rome. But, there is a diffence between walking 1.5 km downhill and walking 1.5 km uphill. And, I had heard that it is very difficult to find a taxi driver who will take passengers very short distances. Thanks again to everyone for their help.
