|
Alas. My time here is almost over. We spent the whole time in Cascais.
The weather has been spectacular. Vespacurves. I am lucky to have met people here who never have a shortage of great restaurant ideas. lreynolds has given me a lot of them. And Portuguese friends always surprise me with choices. On Saturday I am looking forward to another one to add to my list. When I return home I can really post some here. Laurie. We made it to Paco d. Arcos and had a wonderful meal. It was very easy to find the restaurant and actually went there for a late lunch after some time in Belem. Had to get my fill of the pasteis. I also had another pastry a little further up North which I haven't seen here in this area. We stopped at a little coffee place on the way to Santarem. I made the server write it down for me (not that I will ever be able to duplicate it at home). One of the great things we did is that in Estoril they have a community festa every July and August. There are people who make lovely things there. And also the local restaurants have set up places to eat. Just another layer to add. I could go on and on. I just might get up enough energy to make a trip report except it would be full of reflections of good food, wonderful weather and relaxation and not so much with web addresses, cost of meals and directions. Everyone should have the opportunity to travel this way. |
Sounds like a great trip (and a great trip report to look forward to).
|
Thanks Nikki. A great trip.

Hi, Sher,
So good to hear from you. Can't wait to hear all about it. Glad you liked the Astrolabio, I'm assuming you ordered some marvelous whole fish?! Laurie |
Sounds like you had a wonderful time, can't wait to hear all the details.
Nutella - when are you going to be in Lisbon? Would love to gtg. |
maybe forever :)
|
Lauurie. We had to order some clams just because and then we picked out a small sea bass. the vegetables were wonderful.
We also went back to Da Adraga (twice). It isn't very far from here. I have to say we also had a wonderful dinner in Cascais last night O Pescadore. It was on the marina. I have not had a bad meal. |
I think the clams at Astrolabio is something of a "specialty" because I think everyone in the restaurant was eating them when I was there. I think they were in some kind of light lemony broth, do I remember right? YUM.
Lucky you to have gone to Adraga twice! Not fair!!! I think that has got to be one of my favorite restaurants in the world -- how can you beat that stunning beach location and the fresh fish? I haven't been back in several years, but I'm going to try to make sure we get there next spring when I'm in Lisbon. Enjoy the rest of your time! Sounds like you are really enjoying this time. |
WE asked the waiter what the clams were in and he said just olive oil, garlic and coriander. `maybe there is a secret ingredient they do not mention when asked.
ì must admit that the beach setting is something that only adds to the dining experience. We ate inside, it was very windy and cold that night. During the day when we had lunch it was lovely. |
