off the beaten track in Basilicata

My fiancee and I will be going to the Basilicata region (to Nova Siri) this June for part of our honeymoon. Anyone here have suggestions for where we should travel and what we should see while there?

You really are off the beaten track! If you have a car, a visit to Matera would be good and the beautiful beaches and coastline of the Gulf of Policastro near Maratea.

There is an article in Travel and Leisure magazine this month about this region.

I think we will go to Matera, but what about elsewhere in the region? Towns? Ruins? Museums? Food?

My favorite place in Italy. Even if you don't stay there - do go have a meal in the grotto dining "room" with the sea crashing below and behind you.
