Off-the-beaten-track in Athens?

I'm visiting Athens in early June, and I'll be mostly on my own during the day. Since I've been a few times before, I'm looking for something new and unusual to do- a cooking class? a tour of places only locals know how to find, a "secret" itinerary tour? Would love to hear ideas! Thanks!

Hi

What about a cemetery? See http://www.athensinfoguide.com/wtskerameikos.htm or http://www.athensinfoguide.com/wtscemetery.htm

These might give you ideas:

"Sunday in Athens Walking Tour"

For something really different, bicycle tours, eg:

An excursion to nearby Mt Hymettus looks very pretty, see pics at NY Times:

You should go visit the Ilias Lalaounis Jewellery Museum, Weadles. It is on the edge of the Plaka, near the entrance to the Acropolis.

OOH-Did you say Jewelry? But don't I need Muffy with me?

Proenza_Preschooler May 16th, 2008 06:15 AM

No, Weadles you don't need Muffy. She is getting married again anyway. We all probably won't see her for a while.

The Museum is fabulous without being overwhelming. There is a shop on the main floor where you can buy things!!!!!!!!!!!!!
