Oceania Cruises - Anyone ever gone on one of these?

My father is taking his new "friend" on a luxury cruise around Spain, Portugal and Italy on Oceania Cruises. He has booked the "Owners Suite". I am wondering if anyone has used this company and what it was like.

Yes, we have been on two Oceania cruises and will be on a third in Feb. Very nice ships, 650 or so passengers, open dining, fabulous food, port intensive, low key entertainment, great crew.
This line is placed above the Celebrity, Holland America type and somewhat below the very high end Crystal, Seaborne experience. They will not be disappointed, we were pleased. Check out www. CruiseCritic.com for all kinds of opinions.

I agree with Peggyann.
We were on an Oceania cruise in October, and are in the process of booking another for next year.

Thank you both for your input. Please tell me what port intensive means. Does it mean that they stop at many ports? I am a little concerned as he has a foot problem and cannot walk long distances. Thanks again.

Yes Calamari, port intensive means that the ship will be in port vs. at sea most days. That doesn't necessarily mean that your father will have to do a lot of walking in each port. He can pick cruise line excursions that don't require a lot of walking (there are usually several offered for each port stop) or make his own arrangements for private guides/drivers to minimize the amount of walking.

We are booked on Oceania for the London to Rome cruise, 9/8/07, and for the LA to Miami Panama Canal Cruise on 1/28/07, looking forward to Cruising on a small ship, port intensive. We are CRYSTAL ship lovers, however, they did not offer the 2 cruises as mentioned. We will let all know!

Wow, long time since anyone commented, but I am going with a friend in April from Barcelona to Athens for 14 days. Anyone want to help with shore excursion info or places to stay in Athens or Barcelona?

Add this comment. We have two Oceania cruises booked. One June 2013. (London to Stockholm) One August 2013. (Alaska).

I hope that lady's dad had a good time with his "friend" back in 2004!

travel dawg..you are so-o-oo lucky. O is a favorite of ours..classy, doesn't nickle and dime you, lets you bring your own booze, take your wine and only pay corkage in the dining room and then saves your bottle. Has a very nice 2 fer happy hour, lovely public rooms, generous staterooms, excell. food and I could go on and on!! We prefer the smaller Nautica,Regatta or Insignia..less prople and more personal. only drawback that I can see is the ships tours are somewhat over priced and not as satisfyijg as getting your own. go to cruise critic and open Oceania boards.. You will find other cruises on your trip and they may have lined up tours.. Happy trails (sails)...
