Obscure music stores in London

People,

I'm looking for some indications on good music stores in London. By "good" I mean those that have stuff from the 80s, especially rarities from The Cure and the like, and that are known mostly to locals (not touristy places). Please let me know if you are aware of any places that might fit the description.

Thanks.

I think you'd have good luck checking out Time Out for specialist record shops. maybe even their website.

I can't think of a specific one off of the top of my head, however. Likely you'll have luck in Islington or Camden.

Of course, with my memory these days, I am remembering the place but not the name..so ...GO to Covent Garden, go down the street to Neals Yard and the music store is on the right:)
Sounds touristy because of the location, but the music is so not touristy:)

Scarlett,

Could the name of the place be Rough Trade?

Thanks everyone for the information.

There's an interesting phenomenon by Notting Hill tube, where a number of apparently related music stores are in the process of taking over almost every outlet on the North-East side of the intersection: back toward Bayswater Road and north up Pembridge Road.
Time Out - the magazine - is not always that good on permanent shops. But its "T.Out Guide to Shopping" book is invaluable for all sorts of odd shops.
