Obidos day trip
 

WE will be travelling from Lisbon to Tomar We want to stop for a few hours in Obidos but will have all of our luggage in the car. Do you think it would be safe to park the car with our luggage in it?

Does your car have a trunk separate from the car- so it can be locked with nothing in view?

I've been to Obidos -an unlikely place for theft from car it seems -not an urban area.

There is a large parking area adjacent to the town which is busy with tourists and coach buses, your car should be fine there. The town is mostly tourists and the locals that work within the town. Really no "outsiders" in the area.
At the least I would place a blanket over your luggage so the suitcases themselves don't stick out.
