Is it oh-ban?

Yes, with equal emphasis on each syllable.

I always thought it was "OH-bin" with emphasis on the first syllable. But, hey, I'm just a visitor to the place.

Stress on the first syllable, second vowel almost unvoiced. OH-b'n.

As a Scot who's visited Oban more thanm once - Patrick is spot on: Oh-b'n

If we get there and unintentionally pronounce it incorrectly, will they still take our MON-eeee???

I just want to make sure when I ask, which train to Oban, they know what I'm talking about so I end up in the right place!

Love the photo, mr_go. We didn't go to Oban when we visited Scotland a few years ago. Big mistake apparently. Next time! Now I'll know how to pronounce it!
