OAT Overseas Adventur Travel Turkey "Hideaway" tour questions

i see that many of you have done the oat turkey tour-- but this question is just about the "turkey hidaway" tour. i am wondering whether or not most of the hotel rooms are air conditioned. since i'm a teacher, i have to go in the summer and i know it will be very hot. i can take the heat during the day-- but really need to cool down at night.

the other turkey tour mentions "climate control" in their hotel descriptions... but since this one goes to smaller towns and hotels... it doesn't mention whether they have a.c.

anyone out there know? also--- anyone do this trip and have any input on it??
thanks for any help. kawh sebastopol, ca

Have you checked the departure dates for this trip? Your school schedule might not work with OAT dates as the trip does not run between mid June and the end of August.

thanks for your reply. yes. this "hideaway" tour has june dates-- which is why i picked it over the other turkey tour, which does not. (but the other tour lists air conditioning... seems like it would be most important in june?) kawh

I would definitely want AC in Turkey in June, especially in the south. The tour group does not dictate when AC is turned on in hotels. I was in Turkey at the beginning of May and it was quite hot in the south but the hotels said that they do not turn on the AC until summer (I don't know what their definition of summer is). Since Turkey is arid the temps did cool off in the evening and it was comfortable with the windows open.

Your best bet is to call GCT/OAT or email the hotels and ask if the AC is on in June. But just because AC exists does not mean that it will be efficient or cool the room to the temp that is comfortable for you. One of your nights is in a private home so you can't count on AC there.

Enjoy Turkey - it's a wonderful place!

Hi Kawh.

You should be able to check the hotel websites online to find out whether or not they have air conditioning. Also, check the hotel reviews on TripAdvisor.com to see what others have to say.

We normally prefer OAT tours, but for our Turkey tour next May, we are going with their sister company GCT - mainly because I do not sleep well on a boat. I also did not want to sleep in a private home since there is most likely not a private bath on that night.

I did an excel spreadsheet to compare Turkey tours before booking the GCT tour. If you have excel, and would like to see my spreadsheet, I would be happy to send it to you. My email is: [email protected]

Sandys, I took the gct Turkey trip for the same reason and it was wonderful. A great itinerary and nice hotels, especially in Antalya.
