NY-the day after

6 am. The alarm goes off - music - John Lennon's Imagine. Get up - dog asleep next to me(what else is new), hubby gone already. Sun coming up, birds chirping, it's going to be a beautiful day. What to wear? Then it hits, the images, the horror, oh my God this really happened. there is nothing normal about this day. Call the work hotline, they are open, the LIRR is on a normal schedule. Know what-they can get along without me today. Turn on the TV, nothing new, no survivors have been pulled from the wreckage all night, but no bodies either. Amateur video of the area, the horror, I cry again. Another video of the first and second plane hitting the building- haven't seen these before-shot by a tourist. I used to work there on the 101st floor, makes it all the more scary-could have been me. Good friend made it out OK, want to call her, don't I'm told, she's in shock-why did I live-my office is gone-I have no job-I haven't heard from anyone. Husband had to work-contingency detail-give me a break it's a day of mourning. I'm staying home-I need to see my nieces and give thanks and pray

To Lori and all affected personally by this tragedy, my prayers and thoughts are with you. 24 hours later I still feel numb and I'm on the other side of the world! Be brave. Be strong. Know we are all with you in spirit.

Rhonda
Australia

Lori,

My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you. Living only 7 blocks from Columbine High School, I can only think of the victims and their family and friends.

Today is a new day..a day for putting our lives together and healing. It will be a long road.

But know that you have the entire United States and most of the world on your side.

Love to you,
Karen
Littleton, Colorado
