At a Fortino's in the Toronto area, I found a store brand version of dark chocolate nutella which I think is fabulous!

I am a fan of the Russian version, which has a vanilla swirl- too... yummy.

I love Nutella - I can buy it here in teh States, but choose not to for two reasons. First is if I have it in the house, I will eat it by the serving spoonfull. Second, it adds to the pleasure of my European trips when I can consider it a 'splurge'. I do this with McVities Digestives and Bitter Lemon, as well.

We love the Russian version as well! We picked it up in Umbria and DH proceeded to coat pieces of break with it every morning for breakfast.

to me nutella is instant dessert. just put it on most baked goods and yummy...my fave take a tortilla crisped in the oven with nutella and some whipped cream on it...

btw, the french version of a nutella crepe is dangerous...they pour on about 2lbs of the stuff...i had to ask for a light version and it still was way more than you need...

There's a Nutella + banana version? Mmm...that sounds delicious. I must look for that when I'm over there this weekend. Speaking of spreadable chocolates, Milka makes this stuff called "Schoko Creme" - so it's basically like eating a liquified Milka bar...and it is soooo good! There's a place near Dallas/Ft. Worth (in Southlake) called Germandeli.com (with website, naturally) that sells all sorts of German/Austrian/Swiss/Dutch products. I went there the other weekend and got me one of those Schoko Cremes, as well as a tub of gummi Devils.

Even here, in an obscure western suburb of Chicago (Crystal Lake) Nutella is available. Nothing better than the combination of chocolate and hazelnuts!

OK, I've gone and done it - bought that jar of Nutella after reading some posts which say the taste varies. It definitely does.
The Nutella crepe I bit into in Paris had a more caramel or nutty flavour.
This jar of Nutella tastes like chocolate cake icing (frosting) and nothing else.
Well at least I can bake the cake now seeing I've got an otherwise useless jar !

I also can buy Nutella where I live (U.S.) but for some reason it tastes so much better in Germany on a small roll.

On my last trip this past month I found that much of the chocolate candy bars and cookies are available in the States.

Sounds like the people who only eat in when in Europe are harking back to the 'good' old days. That's pretty sad; things have moved on.

Wake up, it's a global economy. I can buy Irn-bru in Cincinnati.

For those on a budget, if you want to buy Nutella in Europe, there are plenty of copies of Nutella, especially among the supermarket branded items.

the nutella sold here in the states does taste different than those sold in Europe because it is different. In some east coast cities you can find the italian version in specialtiy stores. If you look at the two ingredient listings, they differ.
