Nude Beaches
 

One more question, are nude beaches common in Greece? Not Exactly my cup of tea lol

I am not sure about Greece, but no beach requires that you be nude, and if seeing other's nude bodies makes you uncomfortable, usually you can just move down the beach.

I heard they were but not from a reliable source. I thought they were more common in france or italy.

Have seen nude Germans and Scandinavians on beaches at Corfu - it doesn't impress the Greeks, or at least the ones I met.

Nudism is not an offence in Greece. This question is asked many times and many times I read here that it is illegal.

Islands and their local government peoples make rules because family peoples do not wish to lay in sun with naked people beside them. Of course, same is for people who prefer to be naked in sun and they do not want families closeby.

So, local government peoples will designate beaches for people who want to bath nude (in Mykonos, Skiathos, Crete, Rhodes and many others) and then there are beaches where it is not preferred.

You arrive on an island then ask locally, perhaps tourist office if there is a desigated beach. This is the best way.

If I suggest anything I say to avoid without clothes on any beach where homes and buildings look onto beach. I know of two times when local persons had police charge peoples as they were offended. These times happen on beaches that were not designated.

If the local person is pershaps older age then respect is needed as they will be upset and the law here in Greece does not accept if you say you did not know the law. I hope this makes sense for you.

I saw a few nude people on five different beaches in Mykonos. Superparadise 2 had the most nudies; about 20% of the people on the beach. I have to admit, the bodies on the nude statutes were better looking. Red Beach on Santorini had a few too, but you had to take a hike to find them.

If someone is bathing nude in Europe, it's not a big deal. However, try that on the beach where I live in the United States, and you will be a sexual offender.

in fact, bathing nude WOULD be a big deal in most parts of europe. just as in the US, there are places to do it and places not to. it is common on this board to exaggerate the differences between european and american openness/prudishness. i accept that there are more places in europe where it is acceptable but in most places, it is clearly not.

Topless bathing can be seen all over Europe. It seems to be fazing out though. I saw more of it in the 80's and 90's.

I realize this thread is getting old now, but I had to point out the pun that you made, albeit possibly inadvertently. (A pun is a humourous play on words.)

I think you meant to say &quot;It seems to be <i> phasing </i> out though.&quot; A phase is a stage or step in a progression; whereas to be <i> fazed </i> is to be disconcerted or disturbed. On the other hand, given the subject matter, your choice of words might be apt either way.... :)
