Hopingtotravel, hate to bring confusion to your mix, but if you are willing to go south to Kennacraig, and love gardens, please do not miss Achamore Gardens on Gigha, a tiny island just off Kintyre. It was recommended to us as a day trip by our hostess in Tarbet, and it was MAGICAL. If you check the CalMac brochure, there may be a way to get to Islay from there as well.

Have always been sorry we missed the little offshore garden near Bantry Bay in Ireland. One can't do it all.

I have seen pictures and read about the Gardens. Lovely, but I think we may already be trying too many islands.

Well, OK, promised him Islay. However, Mull will be something we do coming from the east, then actually drive south from Oban to K to go to Islay.
