Unlike waht the site sais, I invite everyone to witness the workers' demonstrations. They are absolutely non violent and non risky and, whatever your ideas are, you might get an insight of what are the current problems of Italy.<BR><BR>Also, in November Florence will host the European Social Forum. To echo the other posts, the strikes in Italy are always short-lived, ending within 1 day or even a few hours. There is nothing to worry about. I flew into Milano on a day where the air traffic controllers were to be striking, but as of 8:00 am, they hadn't even begun the strike! Strikes in Italia aren't as drawn out and full of back and forth negotiations as they are here in the US. I would not worry about a thing and don't let that hamper any travel plans you've made. Strikes have never affected any of mine.

loveitalia:<BR><BR>As a matter of facts, in Italy there is as much contractation as in the Us, the main difference is that we usually perceive the strike more as a demonstrative thing to show the "padronato" how determined we are, while in the Us (or also in the Uk) striking seems to be the only way to get the contractations started.

Does anyone have any update on the situation? The first strike is planned for Thursday............just as I am due to fly into Venice.
