November in Paris

My husband and I will be vacationing in Paris this fall. Originally we planned to go in October, but we have a hotel coupon for Le Grande Inter-Continental, and there is no availability in October. What is Paris like in November? Thanks in advance.

I lived in Paris a few years back and from what I remember, November was quite cool. I think it really just depends, however. I first went over in late August and was surprised at how cool it was. This weather pattern continued through the month of September but then we enjoyed a rather warm October...I'd keep my eye on the weather reports for Paris and go prepared with clothing that you can layer so that you're ready for whatever Mother Nature throws your way. Be sure to pack an umbrella as well. Have fun! If you're like me you'll love Paris in any weather!

Dear Beverly: I go to Paris for brief visits fairly regularly in November (when the transatlantic fares go down). I would describe the weather as "nippy," which to me means a lined raincoat, a sweater, and woollen slacks or skirt--plus an umbrella. Figure on rain three days out of five--but hey, it's Paris! As Amy says, it's hard not to enjoy oneself there. There are plenty of indoor activities if it rains too much for you. So go and enjoy! Joan

Am planning my first trip to Paris (and Europe) and have no choice but
to go the week between Christmas and New Years.
Is this a bad time to go?
Things closed (like museums)?
Stores/restaurants closed?
Cold and wet don't bother me a bit,
but Versailles being closed would bother me a lot!
Thanks for any info.

Brian Staihr
[email protected]
