November 11 in France

I know it is Rememberance Day, are most stores, Museums, etc closed? I do recall a parade down the Champs, but are things open? Many thanks

Most everything was open last year. A few of the museums might be closed, check the websites. Also some of the Metro stops around Etoile are closed until after the parade.

November 11 is on a Tuesday and many museums are closed on Tuesdays.

Nothing usually shuts down for Armistice Day. Although it is called 'day' the actual remembrance ceremonies etc are centred around the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (i.e. 11am on 11th November).

It's polite to stop what you are doing and observe the silence at 11.

Otherwise, unless you find yourself in the middle of a ceremony, it shouldn't make any real difference to you.
