Hi, here is a reliable website that is in English that gives the information for strikes in Italy at this time. Sometimes the information changes however so keep tabs on any uptodate information. And best wishes to you two and anyone else needing flights or other transportation on November 17th.

Can someone decode what is mentioned in this website?
http://www.enac.gov.it/La_Regolazion...iti/index.html
http://www.enac.gov.it/La_Regolazion...ite/index.html
I tried to use google translate and here is my understanding:
Arrival and Departure of Flights are allowed between 7:00 to 10:00 in the morning and 18:00 - 21:00 in the evening/night on the day of Strike.
Can someone comment on what it's been mentioned on International Flights arrival that's been mentioned in second link?

monitor travel.state.gov strikes can affect flights
but usually do not...
Burlosconi has resigned Mario Monti a Banker "Technocrat"
Has taken the helm and things like bond prices are stabilizing
currently so relax take precautions but odds are GREAT you

Murkey1980 It looks like you & I are in the same boat (or should I say plane ? )
I can't get any answers from anybody at the airlines. I thought it would be a good idea
for us to fly in a day earlier to avoid any problems with the strike, but the airlines want to
charge us the usual change fee.
Loveitaly ....Thanks for the website, Very helpful

As best as I can figure out, if there is a strike that affects air transportation this Thursday, it will affect some ground operations at some airports only.
If at all possible, travel with carry-on only, to avoid the possibility of baggage handlers refusing to unload your luggage until the strike is over. If it is impossible to travel with just carry on, make sure that you divide the contents of your luggage in such a way that you have 2 or 3 days clothes and valuables into a carry on, and check the rest.
In Rome, the Trenitalia website says that the Leonardo Express train is guaranteed to run to and from the airport in the event of any strike, and that buses will provided if need be as back up.
All that said, your should call your air carrier before leaving for the airport for the latest news, and not rely on amateur internet sites for authoritative information.

deedeedee,
What I think is based on skimpy news reports in Italian, which mainly focus on train and bus disruptions, and even I wouldn't base my travel plans on that, and I am not recommending you do. I am recommending you call your airline and ask them what they know.
But I would find it absolutely extraordinary if airlines told their pilots to take to the air not knowing if there was sufficient personnel in place at their destination to safely land the flight.

zeppole I have talked to Delta & Air France & they have had no bulletins regarding the strike.
We are flying into Paris & then to Florence. If we get stuck at the Paris airport so be it.
At least we are flying business on Air France and their lounge in Paris is very nice.
Thanks again, I'm sure everything will work out

Most airlines do not get any notice of the strike until 24 hours before. We were scheduled to arrive in FCO Nov 17 and thought it wise to move our departure a day ahead so we would have our feet on the ground in Italy Nov 16.
