Now it's that you don't spend A LOT of time there. That's not what you said. And not what I responded to. To answer your question, yes, I spend time along the Thames after dark. And sometimes I go to Soho. Or Chinatown. Or Covent Garden. Or around the museums. Or around St Pauls. That's where many things happen in London. Not much different in Paris. Not sure what's so special about 'after dark'. But yes, I do often have reasons to be in central London after dark. So not misplaced at all.

Parisians seems to have more antipathy to tourists than Londoners!

What's special about "after dark" is that Paris glows at that time of day/night. A not-so-subtle attribute that apparently has escaped you.

Paris is wonderful at night. We already established that. Kerouac has some issue with central paris at night. Not me! My comment is about why he's so opposed to central Paris AFTER DARK. Special = different for Kerouac than other times of the day. Is reading comprehension that much of a problem? No wonder...well never mind....

I never said that I was opposed to central Paris after dark -- I just rarely go out at night. Even in my own neighborhood, most days I have finished going out by about 15:00. However, I am out and about in the city quite early -- usually by 07:30. Generally I go to the movies at Les Halles or Beaubourg at 09:00, but what I do with my time does not require any disparaging comments.

It may not "require" the comments, but some long time posters have pretty much transformed into negative trolls for some, searching out posts by folks like you to just lay an unpolished turd on your lap.

Certainly true!

Absolutely true. I think I just spotted one!
