Norweigan Rail Passes
We'll be spending a week in Norway in Apr 06. We've been to Oslo before so just flying in and then starting our trip. Want to visit Stravenger, Bergen and a few fjords.
Any info on rail passes, Viking pass, Norway in a Nutshell and senior discounts will be appreciated. |
Norway Railpass
3 days in one month $209 (2nd class); senior 60 and over $151, youth under 25 $151. No first class version. Questions? In US RailEurope or agents (800-441-2387); pass also valid for direct trains Oslo-Goteborg and Oslo-Stockholm. Check Norwegian Railways official web site for point-point fares: www.nsb.no; google Norway in a Nutshell for a nutshell website with schedules and search this forum as there have been some in depth discussions of Nutshell recently. Personally i rank the Nutshell tour as one of the absolute highlights of my 36 years of European travels! And the Oslo-Bergen railway is one of my top five European train rides! Hoping you see a whale on the fjord boat trip Flam-Gudvagen! |

Thanks for your knowlegeable response. Do you have any info on hotel passes? |
No

Try this:
http://www.fjord-pass.com/default.asp We more than made up the cost of the pass with our discounted rate at a Bergen Hotel |
For hotel passes call the Norwegian Tourist Board (212-885-9700), actually under the umbrella of the Scandinavian Tourist Board (www.goscandinavia.com) and i'm sure they'll know all about hotel passes, Viking Pass, Nutshell, etc.

There is something called the Triangel tour - not a tour/but a combo of tickets and can also be combined with the Nutshell
Itinerary: Oslo-Stavanger-Bergen-Nutshell-Oslo Read more: http://www.nsb.no/internet/en/travel...mp;language=en |
In april the best Itinerary would probably be Oslo-Nutshell-Bergen-Stavanger-Oslo

Our newphew travels a lot to get OUT a he says. Anyways the train tickets in Noway is only $ 30 us Dolass each time if you get them from the Nowaygen train inner nets site ww.nsb.no he said. They are called 'mini Me prices"tickets or some thing. Me an my DH didd Noway and the Scandinavio in 2001 an they are right, the scenery is breastaking!! There is no train between Stavhanger and Vergen, but there is a fast boat or busses on it. Im checkin my notes from our last trip an it says the boat we took is Flagrutten. We used fordpass for hotels it was cheeper. Look for discounts for 'pinchiners" what they called seasoned citizans. !!
