Nooo, don’t stop! 😭
I have loved the wonderful photography, the changing landscape, and the logistics of public transport. We visited Flåm once, about 40 years ago. I had zero idea how long it would take me to get there from the German village I was based in, i was ‘winging it’ back then. I travelled very differently since then, lol. |
Really enjoyed your report, Cherthor. Encouraged to read about your Preikestolen experience, clearly Stavanger needs to be in the mix when we plan our return to Norway.

Cherthor Thank you again for this fascinating TR! I'm curious as to why/ how you decided on this itinerary, esp visiting the more remote places in Norway (the Lofoten islands eg)? None of these places, besides Oslo and Bergen, were even on my radar. Now you got be super curious about them.

Thank you, too, for this wonderful report and stunning photos! Not sure if we will make it to Norway so I really enjoy reading about Norway and looking at the gorgeous scenery. We wouldn’t go in April, though. It would have to be during the summer. April is too cold for us.

Norway had been on my traveling list for a long while. I had a trip planned on 2020 with air tickets and hotels booked but was cancelled due to covid. We were 5 years younger then and I was ambitious to plan quite a number of hikes that were hard, and the trip would be during end of May towards early June when the trails would be more accessible. 5 years later, after much consideration, I decided to give up all those long hard trails and chose a much relax pace for the trip. We love nature and enjoy what the Mother Earth that provides us. Lofoten islands are very beautiful in winter and the Aurora can be seen on the islands easily if you are lucky. I would still choose Lofoten islands over Oslo and Bergen if I am going back to visit Norway again. Lofoten Islands are not as easily accessible as Oslo or Bergen, but the islands are not remote as you think. In summer, the islands can be overcrowded with tourists like Bergen. I chose the April month to visit because I know there would be less people and the lodging is a lot less expensive. I like this video on YouTube. You can check it out if you are interested.
