Norway, off beaten path

I was wondering if anyone can recommend some off the beaten path trips in norway, inland or coast....

That depends on what you mean by off the beaten path, and what you like to do. If you want to avoid tourist areas, I would recommend the area in the central Norway. The cities of Molde, Kristiansund, Trondheim and Ryros are nice to visit. Take the expressboat between Kristiansund and Trondheim. The coastline is beautiful. From Trondheim you could go out to the Fosen peninsula, the area is very beautiful. If you like hiking in the mountains the area east of Trondheim near the Swedish border is nice. You should not miss the mining town of Ryros wich is on the UNESCO list of world heritage places.

Great help thanks!! I will look into. However, I do not want to go too much further north than Trondheim, as I have to get back to oslo with the rental car. Any ideas around the Jununheimen and Rondane?
Also, and going kayaking and hiking, which should give me some space from tourist sites,,no?

Jutulhogget (the closest you come to Grand Canyon in Norway) worth a visit, accessible by car: www.trollshop.net/trolls/tynset.htm
Info on Rondane: www.visitrondane.com/eng/index2.html
If going to Dovrefjell you may be so lucky to get a glance at some Moscus:

Hi mep,
For Kayaking I found some sites for you in Sjoa. In Sjoa there is a lot of companies that takes you on river rafting, kayaking etc. : http://www.kajakksenteret.no/

For Hiking you should take a close look at The Norwegian Mountain Touring Association (DNT) web page: www.turistforeningen.no/ They have a lot of information on maps, routes, places to stay. Actually the DNT has a lot of manned and unmanned lodges and cabins to stay at. This is the vest way to enjoy norwegian nature!
