Norway: midges & mosquitoes a problem?

We're going fairly soon... with stops in Oslo, Bergen and further afield (not far from Urnes stave kirk). Are bugs a big problem this time of year?

Poor ms_go usually gets eaten alive, and I'd like to keep her happy. Anything there that a good spritz of Off Skintastic can't handle?

If Off Skintastic at just 4.75% DEET works for her, she's not that much of a target.

Try Picaridin based sprays -- they don't stink like the DEET sprays.

Thanks Russ.

Can anyone give us insight on what to expect WRT the bug density in Norway in the summertime?

3 Years ago we spent 2 weeks in Norway from Oslo to Bergen and as far north as Alesand (last 2 weeks of June). No bug problems...(and usually mosquitoes like me). You will love it. Our only complaint was the cost of food. I could deal with $10 gallon for gas but $15 for a sandwich. We ended up buying rolls and lunch meat from grocery stores quite often. The grocery stores were amazingly well stocked with frozen pizzas, but that didn't help us. Just take along some spray...just in case.

We had no mosquito or midge problem.
