Norway midfjord boat transfer
We'll be doing a midfjord transfer between two ferries on our way from Balestrand to Bergen via Nærøyfjorden. Can anyonbe give me a little more information on how this works? Do I get a ticket from Balestrand to Flam and then just change boats? How does the transfer actually take place? Step across the two rails?
Any insight would be appreciated.

The two ships will come alongside one another in the middle of the fjord, a gangway will be placed between them and passengers will walk from one vessel to the other.
You need to buy a ticket for the whole journey: "Midtfjords", where you change vessels, appears in the schedule but you cannot buy a ticket to that place.

hpl and GeoffHanmer,
I too will be doing the route from Balestrand to Bergen Via the Naeroyfjorden.
May I also ask for some help?
Can we buy this ticket in Balestrand the day of or the day before departure? Must it be reserved in advance?
Does this transfer coincide with catching the train - Voss - Bergen?
What time is the departure from Balestrand?
Thanks to both of you.
We will be doing this segment on July 4. hpl - What is the date of your trip?

This is the info I received from Unni Marie (our hostess at the Balestrand Hotel) and was confirmed by the boat company:
Timetable:
Boat departs Balestrand 11:50
Midfjord exchange at 12:45
arrive in Gudvangen 14:30
Bus from Gudvangen to Voss 15:40
train Voss to Bergen 17:53
arrive Bergen 19:05
I was advised by Unni Marie to make reservations via e-mail for the ferry trip at : [email protected]
I did so and received a reservation number. No payment was due at this time. Tickets for the Bus from Gudvangen to Voss can be purchased on the bus. Train ticket Voss to Bergen will be purchased at the
station or on the train. This train is a local train.
Cost for the ticket from Balestrand to Gudvangen is NOK 110. My date is Sunday July 4.
I would think the cost and times for your date would be the same, but check in the e-mail.
Have a great trip.

Sounds like we are doing the same trip although ours will be in mid-June. I was thinking we needed a little more specific planning for the trip but it sounds like buying on board is the normal process.
