Norway in September
We are considering spending a week in Norway between Bergen and Kristiansund in late September prior to a transatlantic cruise. Is September an ok time to visit? I know it is getting into the rainy season and some of the fjord excursions are closed, but any other thoughts about it? We plan to rent a car.

Very beautiful drive from Bergen north to Kristiansund. Just curious, I see where you are a member since 2006, and no posts of any kind until today? stu |
Can be a beautiful time to be in Norway with autumn colours, while most tourists have returned home you'll still find most tourist facilities are open - they often close end of September. But yes weather is somewhat less likely to be dry and will be chillier than in summer, dress for it and hope for the best. There is no rainy season - you can get rain all year round. Last year's weather (which is no guarantee for this years) can be found at: http://www.yr.no/place/Norway/Hordal...tatistics.html

In an August/early September visit, we were wearing jackets and sweaters...chilly, especially as far north as Bodo and Tromso. Not cold, but cool around Bergen and Oslo. These are my pics from that trip so you can tell. We had no appreciable rain at all during a full month. Pics below.
