Norway in November

I have 3 days in Oslo in mid November before continuing my journey to Singapore. I know the weather will be cold, so can anyone give me some good places to see that are not too city centered. I did consider the train to Bergen and stopping off for the scenic Flam train, but have now decided that it will be too cold and I'll save it for another time.
Some tips would be appreciated

Um - if you want outdoors anywhere it's going to be chilly/cold.

So you really need to give us an idea what you mean if you don't want to do things in a city. Are you asking about a bus tour?

Or smaller towns? (But many don;t have a ton of things to see/do).

It is not the best period to visit Norway's countryside. It's getting cold and dark (http://www.timeanddate.com/sun/norwa...h=11&year=2016) and statistically it can be quite a rainy period.
Do you plan to have a car or just public transport? In the latter case, given the short time, the main way to see some nature would be the Norway in a Nutshell itinerary. If you do it over one day then most of your time is spent in public transport so you don't feel the outside cold too much.
As said above can you be more specific about what you are looking for? It will be cold anyway.

As the above experts have pointed out, you shouldn't really attempt to go anywhere in winter in Scandinavia as you might feel cold or it will be dark early or you might get wet in the rain.

You could take that trip to Bergen and return doing the Norway in a Nutshell route to Oslo. You will be inside heated transport (train, bus and boat) or have access to shelter (cafes, restaurants) all the way so no need to overworry about the cold. It will be cold and wet in Oslo and Bergen too, so unless you plan on spending your time in your hotel room you'd better be prepared for it.

Thank you one and all for your replies. I think we will come back when the weather is warmer during the summer to do the scenic rail and cruise the fjords. But we do still have 3 days to amuse ourselves in Oslo. What would you do in Oslo in November? We wouldn't want to get stranded somewhere through bad weather, so think we should stay in Oslo till our connection to Singapore. We love eating, drinking and walking, not afraid of bad weather as long as we're not stuck miles away. Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
Thank you

Are you not interested in NORTHERN LIGHTS. If So, you can consider TROMSO for 2 nights. The problem is it will be very cold in Nov in Tromso but comparitively lessor than other places in interiors.

The Northern Lights certainly do beckon, but that trip will have to wait as we have a flight to Singapore and only 3 days in Oslo, so don't want to go too far in the cold weather for fear of getting stuck somewhere!
Thanks for the reply though

Why should you get stuck anywhere? We have winter every year and can cope.

You might look at http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ir-museums.cfm for a discussion of Oslo. Also use the scroll down "view by country" for additional recent discussions on Norway.

The main problem of Norway in November is not the cold. It is the darkness, fog and clouds. Forget the scenery in November.

>> We love eating, drinking <<

For these activities, Norway is belongs to the worst places in Europe.
