norway in a nutshell in november?

I am visiting Norway in this November and I am wondering if it is worth to do this NIN trip because in that season half the trip will be in the dark. But it is highly unlikely that I will return to Norway in the near future, so I really want to do it. Can anyone please give me some advise? Thanks.

If you start the NIN from Bergen you will have light for majority of the day and then the remainder of the train trip to Oslo will be dark, but by that point you will have seen the beautiful scenery.

Or, you can start the trip in Oslo and stay overnight in Stalheim and then continue on to Bergen the next day.

Either way, you should definitely not miss this beautiful trip.

The Stalheim closes in September, I think.

Yep, the website only has dates until Sept 19. Maybe the day trip from Bergen to Oslo would be the best.

Thanks for the advise. I'll be doing a day trip from Bergen to Oslo. I think I will take the chance.

Thanks again.

You will not regret it. The scenery is breathtaking.

Not sure what you mean by a "day trip". The trip takes between 7 and 71/2 hours one way.

Maybe he/she means that they will not be staying overnight along the way, thereby doing it all in one day.

The scenery is breathtaking.

Assuming that the weather cooperates. Bergen averages 10" of rain in November.

Even if it is raining, the cruise through the fjords will still be breathtaking. Is there fog in the fjords in November? That would be a disappointment.

I mean I will do the whole trip in one day from 8:40 am to 10:45 pm. I wish it will be a fine day on 13th Nov without rain or fog or snow or whatever. But yeah, come what may, I've decided to enjoy the trip.

Thanks again for the information.

To clarify,cty173 will not be seeing any fjords on the Bergen to Oslo trip. You need to do NIN or it's possible to do it on one's own but it's very much an all day trip one way. To see a fjord you would need to get off the train at Voss and take bus to Gudvangen to catch the ferry to Flam then at Flam take train up the mountain to Myrdal.

You will during the fjord cruise portion of the NIN trip. The OP is traveling for 14 hours so I would assume they are not just taking the train but also the cruise.
